Home Essentials That Look Good Doing Their Thing: The Kitchen

Kitchen essentials that look good in your home // attractive trash cans, folding chairs, fruit baskets, paper towel holders! // via Yellow Brick Home

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing room essentials that look good doing their thing, highlighting the things that aren’t typically super pretty, but we all need – like toilet brushes and toothbrush holders, ha! When I asked what your ‘problem products’ (that’s a thing now) were, my inbox was flooded. Some items have stumped us over the years, too; think: folding chairs, chip clips and paper towel holders (which is why we’ve always hid the latter under our sink!).

Today we’re diving into all of the above and more, because we’re focusing on… the kitchen! Everything in that big list below was requested by you, from step stools to dish racks. There’s no time to waste to create a home you love, so let’s jump right in.

We have and love numbers 12, 23, 25, 27, 29 (so good for cold brew), 33 (we love these as a housewarming gift) and 35! On our wish list: numbers 1, 10 and 17.

I love this sort of series! It’s so helpful to have guides for the practical stuff you have to have anyway, I feel like it really helps improve a space without my needing to worry about whether I’m going overboard on tchotkes/accessories.
I have the Kohler trash can and I love it! Had to not tell my husband what its price was when I bought it since we previously had a cheap plastic trash can but it actually has a bunch of nice features–the lid is soft close, you can flip open the top and lock it in place, the top edge of the trash bag is totally hidden when closed, and there are even little cutouts in the bin area to let out excess sit from under the bag so it doesn’t get all poofy. Recommended, especially if you join the Container Store’s reward program and can get 15% off.ReplyCancel

Glad to hear it! And we LOVE hearing from people who have used and loved the products we find. When possible, it’s definitely worth spending more for quality, rather than spend a small amount over and over again on something that’s so-so.ReplyCancel

I can 10000000% vouch for the technivorm mochamaster (although I prefer the one with the insulated carafe vs the glass carafe, the coffee stays hot for hours).  It makes the best coffee IN THE WORLD.  Nothing else compares.
It’s expensive for a drip coffee maker but I’m told the customer service is excellent (my in-laws have had one longer than I have) and it’ll essentially be the last coffee maker you’ll ever buy.  It’s pour-over quality but so much more convenient.ReplyCancel

I need a stylish and functional kitchen sponge, cloth, dish soap and scrub brush holder for the counter. Have you come across anything?ReplyCancel

Did the schoolhouse paper towel holder work for you? We ordered it several months ago and found out American paper towel rolls are too big so the base of the holder was overshadowed by it ReplyCancel

Oh, no! We don’t personally have that one, but it sure is beautiful.ReplyCancel
