5 Reasons to Choose Cabinet Joint for Your Next Kitchen Remodel

Do you have a kitchen remodel in your future? We’re sharing the reasons why we’ve continued to choose Cabinet Joint for multiple kitchens, bathrooms and our new pantry.

Over the last decade, we’ve renovated around a dozen kitchens and kitchenettes. To say that we’ve learned a lot along the way is the understatement a lifetime! We know what works for us and what doesn’t, which features are nice-to-have and which are non-negotiable.

For our last five cabinet projects, (two kitchens, two bathrooms and this very pantry!) we’ve used Cabinet Joint. We’ve found them to strike a perfect balance of quality, affordability and customization. We’ve done assembly and installation ourselves, and in one instance, we hired it out. Regardless of who has handled the work, we’ve been thrilled with the results of every space!

This post is sponsored by Cabinet Joint. We’ve been using them for RTA custom cabinetry for years – even before our official partnership. All ideas and designs are our own. Thank you, as always, for supporting the brands that support us!

1| Going RTA? DIY You Choose to DIY or Go Pro.

In the cabinet world, RTA stands for ‘Ready To Assemble’. RTA products are generally shipped via freight services and delivered on pallets right to your home. Cabinet Joint’s RTA cabinetry is custom-ordered via multiple rounds of feedback with an assigned cabinet coach, then delivered to be assembled on-site.

For our Chicago home’s kitchen and recent pantry renovation, we handled design, build and installation of the cabinetry ourselves. For our Michigan Red House project, we installed the bathroom vanities ourselves, but hired our talented contracting team to install the kitchen due to time constraints.

We love that Cabinet Joint builds cabinetry that’s DIY-able with a handful of tools and some pretty basic woodworking skills, but it can always be hired out and built by professionals if preferred.

2| They’re Made in America by Craftspeople

Cabinet Joint cabinets are made in America to exacting custom standards. Cabinet boxes can be custom ordered in increments as small as 1/16″ (!) to fit any space. This leads to more usable cabinetry and less space wasted on filler panels.

Being made in the USA also allows Cabinet Joint to manage production costs, cut down on shipping expenses, shorten lead times and avoid potential tariffs. This means that your cabinets are created faster and more affordably than big box stores that sell ‘one size fits all’ cabinets with fewer customization options and higher shipping costs. Everyone wins!

3| They Offer Boundless Styles + Customization

Cabinet Joint offers countless styles and customization options. For sleek and modern frameless cabinets, for example, check out their ACCESS line! We used this line of cabinets in Straight Noce throughout our Red House kitchen and bathrooms for a warm wood tone that feels right at home in our midcentury ranch home.

Cabinet Joint even offers options to purchase doors only if your existing cabinet boxes are in good condition and a simple reface is all that’s needed! This option could significantly reduce the cost of what looks like an entirely new kitchen if the space’s existing layout makes sense.

In both Michigan and Chicago, our kitchens, bathrooms and pantry are absolutely loaded with clever features offered by Cabinet Joint. We’ve integrated pullouts, appliance panels, drawers-within-drawers, hidden trash cans (with foot pedals!) and countless other organization options. These integrated features keep our spaces sleek, functional and organized.

The option to adjust the depth, height and width of every cabinet to the 1/16th of an inch means that the actual cabinet boxes can occupy as much space as possible. We absolutely maxed out the hidden storage in our new pantry without using a single filler panel!

4| You’ll Enjoy Noticeable Quality over Time

We finished our Chicago kitchen renovation almost exactly 3 years ago and the cabinet quality continues to amaze us. The heavy duty Blum hardware and drawer glides still operate how they did the day we installed them. The cabinet boxes are solid and the finishes have held up beautifully.

We opted to have our Chicago home’s cabinets custom painted in Sherwin Williams Reddened Earth. Cabinet Joint offers cabinets custom finished in colors from the Sherwin Williams color catalog for a truly unique look. Like any option, this does come with an additional charge, but we think it’s completely worth it!

5| You Receive Your Very Own Cabinet Coach

The one uniqueness that Cabinet Joint offers that has proven invaluable to us is the assignment of a personal Cabinet Coach. At the onset of your project, your assigned coach holds your hand through the entire process. Simply put, your Coach’s job is to ensure that you’re thrilled with the end result of your cabinet purchase. They’re an irreplaceable resource every step of the way.

Your cabinet coach will help you see around the proverbial corner and suggest options that you may not have considered. Have a tricky layout that feels clunky? Your coach can make suggestions about configurations or functional cabinet inserts that you may have struggled with on your own. We’ve designed roughly one kitchen per year for the last decade and we’ve consulted on dozens more. Our cabinet coaches have still come up with ideas that we didn’t consider every. single. time.

As with every project we’ve completed with Cabinet Joint, we’re thrilled with how our new pantry turned out! We encourage you to check them out for your next kitchen or cabinetry project and we’re also happy to answer any questions about any of our cabinets or installations. As always, thank you to Cabinet Joint for believing in and supporting our small business, and to all of you for cheering us on!

Thank you so much for sharing this project; somehow the pantry completes the whole kitchen.  I love the views from the pantry into the kitchen and from the kitchen with a hint of the new pantry.  Seeing the continuity (the cabinets) and the contrasting details like the wallpaper makes the whole space feel larger.ReplyCancel

Absolutely! Turning this room into our first official pantry has changed everything. Thank you!ReplyCancel

You finished your kitchen remodel three years ago now, where does the time go?!?! I love that these cabinets come custom and that you have no wasted space with fillers. I design a lot of kitchen with 3″ increments sizes, it’s mind-blowing to think you could get a cabinet in ANY SIZE!ReplyCancel

I can’t tell you how handy it has come to order to the 1/16″! A game changer, especially for small spaces.ReplyCancel

I’ve been admiring your recent kitchens and am trying to decide if Cabinet Joint is the direction we should go for our remodel. I’ve been hunting for used cabinets because I really want quality wood cabinets that will last, and a lot of the RTA options I’ve come across just don’t seem to fit the bill. If you don’t mind sharing, would you be open to giving a rough idea of the budget?ReplyCancel

Hi Lauren, it really will depend on the size of your kitchen, number of cabinets, and options/add-ons you choose! You can start by getting a quote from them to see if it’s the right fit moving forward. I will say that the quality of their cabinets is exceptional, with dovetail joints and full maple interiors.ReplyCancel

Because of your recommendation, I went with a Cabinet Joint kitchen 2 years ago. Best decision ever. All cabinets still look brand new, and the quality is super high. I’m redoing my office soon and will 100% be going with CJ again due to quality. ReplyCancel

This is very timely! We are saying goodbye to the appliances from your first kitchen, and working with a coach now to design our kitchen in the suburbs of Chicago!ReplyCancel

Oh wow, how exciting! I’m so happy those appliances worked well for you and excited to see where you end up!ReplyCancel
