Vlog: Let’s Take a Tour of the Tree House!

Last week, we posted a photo tour of our Tree House, and today, we’re looking forward taking you on an actual walk through with Jack and CC in tow! Our little home is a half mile walk from the beaches of Lake Michigan in the small town of Lakeside, a painless hour and a half drive from Chicago. This cabin in the woods (as some family has already been calling it) gained its nickname due to the surrounding old growth trees, and although the guts of the home is filled to the brim with charm, it’s definitely in need of polishing. In this vlog, we’re sharing our favorite details and what’s to come. We’re only a little bit excited (lies – we’re a lot bit!), and we’re looking forward to sharing this adventure with you!

Video Notes

If you’re unable to watch video at the moment and want to learn more, you can always view the full photo tour, which lives on our home tour page, too. (Tip: All our home tours are easily accessible on our menu bar at the top of this blog!)

What a precious cottage! Are your plans to air bnb it?
    Thanks for sharing!ReplyCancel

Eventually! The main purpose is a getaway for us, our family and friends, but we’re also considering Air bnb for a bit farther down the road. We’ll be sure to keep you all updated on how that goes!ReplyCancel

You do have a cute little baby bump! I love it :)
Curious to know where working on this will fall along with the remaining items for your full time house (although it doesn’t seem like there’s much left! downstairs bath maybe?). Would love to get a big picture post on the to do list for the main house and the lake house.ReplyCancel

There’s a lot of little (and some not so little) things on our home’s exterior, but yes, the downstairs bath is the main project ahead for our home! Well, that and the upcoming nursery. :D Thank you for the suggestion, we’ll be sharing a bit of a to do list for the lake house soon!ReplyCancel

Gah! Your cutest lil baby bump & Scott’s loving tone of voice when he pointed it out. Also, CC’s woe is me face at the end made me laugh out loud. The tree house is going to be tres magnifique!ReplyCancel

Haha, CC can really milk that face – she’s an expert frowner (while she wags her little nub of a tail at the same time)!ReplyCancel

LOVE the lake house!!! And so convenient from Chicago for you. That’s a bonus. We have our beach condo investment property but it’s just a little too far away for regular use (and it’s rented a LOT), so I would love to convince my husband of a lake/mountain/ski house but we haven’t found the right area yet! Maybe some day. And HVAC should absolutely be your first investment. We just replaced ours in our beach condo and I feel like it’s going to pay for itself really fast. So much A/C in florida!!ReplyCancel

And on the opposite spectrum, a good gas heating system is going to come in SO handy for chilly Michigan winters! We’ll share how things go as we get that going!ReplyCancel

Love your new house and look forward to seeing what you’ll do with it. I live in a 1935 bungalow in Edinburgh, Scotland and it still has the original internal doors and two cute fireplaces in both of the bedrooms, original floors and front door. The fireplaces no longer work as we had to demolish the chimneys are they were rotten but couldn’t bring myself to remove the fireplaces.ReplyCancel

How beautiful!! I look forward to seeing how you decorate the house. I also love the loft space!

Love it! Just curious, as I was trying to look at the reflection in the side door– what type of camera mount are you using? ????ReplyCancel
