A few years ago, we stumbled upon a vintage plaid throw at the thrift store for a handful of dollars, and just like that, an outdoor blanket bin was born. Since then, we’ve been busy squirreling away cozy fall throws like, well, like squirrels? We pull that blanket bin out during chilly evenings on the back patio, and now, we’ve been doing the same at Tree House. We’re always scanning the textiles at our local thrift stores in the hopes we’ll get lucky again (it’s happened once or twice!), but more often than not, we pay a little more for these classic staples at flea markets or online auctions. The more colorful, worn-in and fringe-y, the better.
Investing in quality wool throws is akin to to investing in a vintage rug, although on a much smaller scale. Hear me out. A well made throw will last a really long time, and it will only get better with age. The more worn in the blanket, the softer it becomes, and the softer it becomes, the more you’ll reach for it time and time again. The nubbiness. The pilling. The thin spots. It’s like your childhood stuffy that you still love to this day.
Of course, these throws are for more than just spilling your deepest secrets around a fireplace (how do fires have the ability to do that?). We like to throw them in a tote for the park, toss them over the arm of a couch or tuck them around our Lucy’s legs on our evening walks. If they’re washable (some wool throws are!), we’ll launder them every few weeks, or if they’re dry clean only, we’ll send them off to the cleaners at the end of the season. Here are some of our picks for this fall season!

Just last week, we were bundled under thick wool throw blankets around our backyard fireplace, but this week, we’ve been reaching the mid-80s. Fall, you’re just around the corner. I can almost, kind of, sort of feel it. (Or maybe we can fool ourselves into thinking so with the hours of apple-scented candles we’ve been burning?)
Blankets are my weakness! These all look so cozy!

Same!
Pools have the ability to pull out secrets and cause spontaneous therapy sessions, too. I have no idea why.
Love it.
