The Weekender: Lucy Turns 2, Smile at the Person In Front of You, and Boyz II Men Still Have ‘It’

Lucy is 2!

Last weekend, we celebrated Lucy. Our little girl is 2! (Pass the tissues, please.) Instead of having a big party (like we did for Turning One), two sets of grandparents came to Chicago, and we ate and we played and we stayed up as late as we could in our pajamas – which to be honest is not very late at all, ha. We picked up a buttercream chocolate cake from a local bakery and sang happy birthday to you!, and Lucy carefully unwrapped a few small gifts – books, stickers and a few learning tools.

Every day, we say to each other, how did we get so lucky? She has a tender heart. She’s a creature of habit (like Mom). She would eat oatmeal with cinnamon for every meal if we let her, but she doesn’t care much for sweets (unlike Mom). She loves her dogs and her best friends, Wallace and Tavi. Her stamina for hide-and-seek is impressive. She’s funny hilarious! Every single night, we sneak into her room after she’s long asleep, and sometimes I take a photo. Is that weird? I don’t care; there’s no one on this planet like this sweet girl.

Happy birthday to you, Lucy Sun! Here’s her birth story, how we adapted our pups to a baby, and her first birthday party if you’d like to see.

Other Things This Week:

Jack and CC make an appearance on the inside cover of Dog Mama! If you have the book, can you spot them?

I know the holidays are behind us, but we are still watching this sweet story. Lucy is enamored, as are we. (Also: I dare you to get those Boyz II Men harmonies out of your head! They’ve still got ‘it.’)

Our Tree House kitchen was recently featured on Architectural Digest’s blog, Clever! Pinch us.

Something else we’re hooked on (sans Lucy) is this documentary following a junior college cheer team, leading up to the big championship. Monica is such a BOSS, I couldn’t love her more.

These are organizations that can use your support in Australia’s wildfires. Thank you, Ashley!

Hands down, Lucy’s favorite gift this year was a penguin wrapped in buckles. Runner up? These socks, truly.

Today, celebrate the water you drink to hydrate yourself (a privilege in so many places). Love on that cozy sweater you are wrapped up in. […] Smile at the person in front of you, even if it’s to yourself in the mirror.

Did you catch the One Room Challenge reveal of Sarah’s living room this week? Gosh, I want to curl up with a glass of wine in that room.

The amber bottles in our bathroom reveal had you filling up my DMs! The ones we used keep selling out, but here’s a taller version of the 32 oz plastic bottles we used in the shower cubby. This is a smaller glass pump that we love for decanting hand soap and lotion. Oh, and this is the embossing label maker we use!

Where has this puffer coat been all my life? It weighs next to nothing, and I’m somehow warm. Like, Chicago warm, which is really on another level to begin with. Psst: I almost picked it up in dark spice, which is on super sale.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Happy birthday to Lucy! I love the photos with you all and the pups on the bed, but my first thought was “Aww, no Libby…” I’m not usually a cat person, but she did seem to just “make” the photo, ya know? =]ReplyCancel
