A round up of Father’s day gift ideas that we own and love, or the things that are on Scott’s wish list.

Happy Father’s Day!
Being a dad is the coolest! I get to take all of the best parenting lessons I’ve absorbed from my dad, Kim’s dad and every other great father figure in my life and distill them down into a set of values to help Lucy become the best version of herself. It all happens fast and none of us gets it 100% right every time, but we’re all out here doing our best with the tools we’ve been given.
Speaking of tools, being a dad also means that you get to play with real, physical tools in addition to all of the metaphorical tools that it takes to raise a kid you’re proud of. So in honor of all of the great dads, grandfathers, papas, pap paps, uncles and other father figures out there, here’s a curated list of gifts to show them that you appreciate them!
Scott’s Picks for Father’s Day

Father’s Day Gifts

1. Rad Dad Shirt, $11
The world would probably be a better place if we all tried to be more like Bandit, everyone’s favorite cartoon dog.

2. Massage Candle, $30
We love items that do double duty and a candle that smells incredible and doubles as massage oil sounds like a great combo to us!

3. 4K Projector, $390
We’re planning to keep common areas at the Red House TV free, but we’d love to add a portable projector to use occasionally in the living room or on the (eventual) back deck! This one gets great reviews and is definitely on our short list.

4. Insulated Cooler Tote, $65
Speaking of items that do double duty, why has it taken so long for a clever tote bag/cooler combo to exist? We love our RTIC soft cooler that’s proven indestructible over the last few years. The addition of a built-in tote bag with tons of stash pockets is such a great idea that we just ordered one for road trips and beach days!

5. Dad Timeline Card, $4
Lucy and I are definitely in the ‘Partner-In-Crime’ stage at the moment. I think she’s already accepted the fact that I’m a dork, so hopefully we can get that 15 year dip out of the way before it starts?

6. Cordless Screwdriver, $89
This gyroscopic cordless screwdriver has been recommended so many times by so many people that we just had to give it a shot. It’s well built and recharges with the most adorable little battery you’ve ever seen. We can’t wait to put it through the paces!

7. Throwing Hatchet, $44
I was gifted this hatchet last summer and it’s absolutely insane. I’ve gotten pretty good at throwing it and I also chopped down a sapling in a matter of seconds with the cutting edge prior to the big tree trim over at the Red House. Impractical? Maybe. Loads of fun? Absolutely.

8. Stretch Chino Short, $50
I’ve been on a hunt for the perfect pair of summer chinos for the last month and I seem to have finally found the perfect pair from Bear Bottom! I grabbed the 5.5″ inseam stretch chino and they’re crazy comfortable with just the right amount of stretch.

9. Cupholder, $50
We love our polywood patio chairs, but the one drawback is that the recycled plastic armrest material is far too slippery to keep a drink stable. Add a little condensation and drinks go on a slip and slide ride right down to the gravel in no time. These sturdy cupholders that clamp directly to the armrests are the perfect solution!

10. Camping Flashlight and Charger, $100
I recently discovered OLight flashlights and I’m obsessed. The Baton 4 Premium Edition comes with a USB-C rechargeable case (think airpods) that keeps the flashlight charged and can also charge your phone or other devices. It’s like a powerbank and a flashlight all in one.

11. 12-in-1 Mini Multi Tool, $29
A great multi-tool belongs in every vehicle, tool bag and camping kit. This lightweight model from Gerber features all the right tools in a compact package that easily fits into a pocket.

12. Carbon Steel Griddle + Press, $199
Our whole family is on a smash burger kick right now and we’re eating our way through Chicago’s best to determine a favorite! We’d like to start making them at home and we love that this griddle and press combo can be used on the grill or on our induction cooktop!

13. Custom Embroidered Pet Hat, $39
Kim and I both love a dad hat. What better way to make it personal that with custom embroidery of their favorite pet? The combinations are endless!
