A Mini + Impactful Kitchen Update

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Delta® Faucet.

This past October, Delta® Faucet invited us to the Food52 test kitchen in New York, where we were encouraged to eat our weight in pinwheels, coconut bars and chocolate. (Needless to say, I was more than happy to oblige!) Sadly, Scott was unable to attend, but I sent him countless texts throughout the day with photos from the gorgeous place Food52 calls work. Their test kitchen, aside from, well, a kitchen, is also a creative gathering hub for their team, completed with the most thoughtful design execution. Think: deep sofas for recharging, built-in banquettes and the sweetest mudroom cubbies for bags, umbrellas and coats.

Every detail from lighting to color palette felt effortless, casual and inviting, but it should come as no surprise that these decisions were intended to spark creativity in a soothing environment. I’ve been taking notes and reeling with ideas for our own Tree House ever since.

Aside from indulging in yummy treats, our day with Food52 allowed us to experience Delta Faucet’s ShieldSpray™ Technology. We were hands on in the test kitchen, and somewhere between rolling dough and getting our fill of brownies, we were rinsing mixing bowls and washing our hands under the pretty Esque™ faucet (seen in this sneak peek from the day). The matte black finish stole my heart, but the Touch2O® and ShieldSpray Technologies were fun to experience! Picture this: A quick tap anywhere on the faucet turns it on and off, and in addition to your typical faucet functions, stream and spray, ShieldSpray provides a shield of water (like a giant bubble!) around a powerful jet to keep excess splashing and mess at bay.

With the Tree House kitchen still in our (not-so?) distant future, we wanted to pay our experience forward and install the Esque faucet in the home of our friends, Meg and Joe. You may remember that they recently moved into a new house, and they’ve been making the most stunning upgrades since day one. We were happy to help them in a mini, yet impactful, way by upgrading the most-used item in any kitchen! After the install, we invited ourselves over – ha! – for a fun afternoon with them, whipping up treats to munch on while we took some much needed time to catch up.

In-between chopping tomatoes and mixing up the most delicious smoothies (the secret’s in the cayenne pepper), we rinsed the blender with ease using the Esque with ShieldSpray; even the thick black beans were no issue for this guy!

We all loved that the faucet offers three modes of spray – you can see in the video above that we used all of them for our varying needs! – and it’s also important to note that the ShieldSpray Technology may look different for you depending on your home’s water pressure (see more FAQs right here). The Esque is available in several finishes, but the matte black is so lean and mean. And don’t you love the way the matte black finish looks when paired with the brass hardware on the cabinetry?

Big hugs to Delta Faucet and Food52 for inspiring us with their timeless designs and allowing us to share it with our dear friends, too!
