There’s never enough time when your cross-country friends come to visit, but we squeezed in as much fun as we could in 3 days! In this vlog, we’re sharing a real life slice from our Chicago vacation with Chris and Julia Marcum (Chris Loves Julia) and John and Sherry Petersik (Young House Love). We figured that the only way to show them our very favorite city in the world was through great food, and we built our entire game plan around just that. We ate (and ate!) and laughed (and laughed!) and talked (so much talking), and the treat was entirely ours that we could spend all our waking hours with them. We were even so lucky to spend an afternoon with Nicole Balch (Making It Lovely), which turned into an evening, which turned into some of our new favorite memories. (And not to be missed: We get to the bottom of how to properly say caulk, so there’s that, too.)
We miss them terribly already, but we’ve promised each other a yearly getaway to each others’ cities. Until next time… Thank you for coming along with us!

Our vlog was filmed with this lightweight camera.
PS: If you enjoy our vlogs, it’d sure make our day if you subscribed to our YouTube channel!
This video just confirms why y’all are my top 3 favorite home bloggers. Still can’t get over you all being together in one city! (Also, you and The Gold Hive have such similar music in your videos! Ha ha. I feel like you’re kindred spirits.)
The Gold Hive is the one who told me about Dyalla for vlogs! Love Ashley. :)
Dyalla is simply the best for videos! and love ya too!
SO.MUCH.FUN! I’ve enjoyed everyone’s blogs for years. As a Chicago area residents for almost 42 years (Yes! But young at heart!) it is so nice to see Chicago shown off to out-of-towners so well. It really is a beautiful city-rain or shine! We have lived in the western suburbs for many years-now finally in our dream home-an 1855 farmhouse. You young people totally inspire me to continue with the DIYing that our budget has always required. You all are so inspiring and full of great ideas!
This is so sweet, thank you, Connie!
Love, love seeing you all together! What a blast! ❤️
It was really the BEST time.
My favorite bloggers in one spot! I would have died and gone to heaven had I run into you! So much fun!
Dream come true for me to see my favorite design bloggers ever hang out. I could feel the fun! I think I had a dream a few years ago where you did pretty much everything shown in the video. :) Chicago is one of my favorite cities, and it was great to see a little of your version of it. Love that the Marcums are introducing you to the world of fancy sodas much beloved in the Intermountain West (Idaho-Utah, etc.). Keep dancing Petersiks, and Sherry, how have you escaped an acting career?! Hope to see more of y’all together and maybe get all the kids together for a play date! Like in Cape Charles…
Loved the vlog! I’ve been following all of your blogs for years and this vlog reaffirmed to me that you guys are as fun and down-to-earth as you all are talented. And, having moved down South from the Midwest, this makes me really want to go back and visit!
This video was so fun! Love seeing you all together and adore seeing all of my favorite Chicago spots that are only my favorites because you introduced them to me! See ya in a month!
Yay, see you SOON!
Super cute video, how long does it take u to edit? Made me miss u guys a ton! ♥️
Miss you, too! This one took a couple of days because I had so much footage! It could have been an hour long but I spared everyone, haha.
You are so fabulous at vlogs :) glad I made time out of my day to watch!
Aw, thank you!
It looks like the six of you (Oops, I mean seven with Nicole!) had a fabulous weekend! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. So much delicious looking food and you all look like you should be models in a catalogue!
Where did the caulk conversation take place? Because that food looks DELICIOUS!
Lonesome Rose!
