Let’s Get Cozy for Fall

Forgive me for jumping in early, but is it ever to early to celebrate the fall season?

Let’s Get Cozy

Chicago summer is fading into crisp mornings, warm afternoons and cool evenings. Is there a better a time of year than this?! Outdoor dining is at its peak, the skies are clear and blue, and our fall perennials are turning golden at the tips. Like the flip of a switch, I’m finding myself swapping out pillow covers to deep reds, pulling out my favorite faux throw and nixing iced coffee in favor of something warm and toasty.

A Few of Our Favorite Things

In honor of this delicious season, I’ve rounded up a few of the things we’ve added to our cart recently, have wish-listed or are currently enjoying!

A round up of cozy, fresh fall finds to stay cozy this season! via Yellow Brick Home

Cozy Fall

1. Grid Cloth Napkins, $12

You might be hosting upcoming holiday gatherings, and this simple pattern can transition through the seasons!

2. Crying in H Mart Book, $15

I’m already a fan of Japanese Breakfast, and this book by Michelle Zauner has been on my list for far too long. The only reason I keep putting it off is because I fear it may hit a little too close to home for me… but that may be an even better reason to crack it open.

3. Surface Mount Light, $180

The Alabax light fixture is a classic that we’ve incorporated into most of the homes we’ve renovated, and the Red House will be no different! As soon as I saw they were available in a beautiful Auburn color, I added several to my cart. We can’t wait to show you where they’ll go!

4. Faux Purple Foliage, $28

Four of these stems are already sitting pretty in a vase on our credenza. Instant fall!

5. Sherpa Coat for Dogs, $38

Who says that humans are the only ones who get to enjoy fall to the fullest? (Take a peek at the adorable hoodies, too!)

6. Full Moon Vase, $30

This beautiful clay vase was an instant boost for our coffee table, filled with clippings from our garden. It sits low, so it’s a great accent piece – and it won’t block the view of the television.

7. Acacia Wood Side Table, $180

This sweet side-table-slash-stool-slash-foot-rest will add a touch of warmth to any room. I think it would look sweet next to your favorite chair with a stack of books and a fresh cup of coffee.

8. Pale Jay, Bewilderment, $23

This album by Pale Jay has been spinning NON-STOP at our home, and I’m not mad about it! We’re big fans of anything the Cincinnati-based label, Colemine Records, puts out, and this one is everything you’d want on a fall weekend: Soulful, smooth, beautiful. Use it as the backing track to your next potluck or afternoon puzzling.

9. Velvet Disc Pillow, $78

These pillows are best in groups of three or more, thrown casually on a sofa or bed. All the colors are stunning (we have Canyon Blue), but I think Amber is calling for the Red House.

10. Woodsmoke + Amber Candle, $34

It’s warm, musky, spicy candle season! Syndey Hale Candle Co. can do no wrong. Their candles have a wide scent throw, and each scent is more wonderful than the last. This one is a staple for the fall season!

11. Calpak Duffel Bag, $98

Pack your weekender and head out for a long weekend where the trees are most colorful! I love that this bag has shoe storage below and interior pockets to keep us organized.

12. Terrazzo Planter, $80

A pair of these would look stunning flanking your front door! Consider year-round evergreens such as juniper or boxwood.

13. 1/2 Zipper Sweatshirt, $40

This half-zip has been in my cart for far too long. It gets wonderful reviews, and I can imagine it would make the best companion on chilly morning walks with the pup.

14. EVO Instant Camera, $200

Is it even a round-up if I don’t include an instax camera? I love the retro look of this one! Take it with you on your next fall weekend adventure. You’ll never regret having those photos.

15. Faux Fur Blanket, $110

After purchasing a budget faux fur and being disappointed, I splurged on one of these and never looked back. Now we have two, and they add instant warmth to the sofa – and the whole family! They wash and dry well, too.

16. Glove Boots, $150

I can’t wear these boots without getting stopped and being asked where they’re from. The body of the boot is a literal sweater! I love throwing these on to cozy and dress up any outfit.

17. Large French Basket, $55

How is this basket this price? It’s large enough to stash pillows and blankets, but I’d use it as a chic way to corral all the dog toys.

18. Two Piece Sweater Set, $46

This set arrived on my doorstep this week! A sweater for the top and sweats for the bottom – the best of both worlds. Available in several colors.

How do you welcome fall? These are the yard tools we pull out this time of year, a round-up of warm, cozy throw blankets, and 10 fall projects to tackle right now!

I’ve had my eye on the glove boot for a few seasons, now!  My hesitancy: how do you keep them clean?!ReplyCancel

    • Scott8.31.23 - 9:59 AM

From Kim: I’m mindful to only wear them in dry conditions where they have a low chance of getting wet or stained. Hope this helps!ReplyCancel

My good friend told me to read Crying In H Mart. She’s also half Korean, & she cried her way through it. Said it was basically her story. I found it compelling & man did it make me wish I could go back to elementary school (& high school) and really notice & love the kids who were different or mixed or otherwise felt out of place. Great reminder to lead with kindness & understanding ReplyCancel

Just a note on the basket.  Looks beautiful for the price point online.  In person looks very cheap and not very sturdy.  Had to return mine which was a bummer.  ReplyCancel

Interesting! We had the opposite experience. Ours is sturdy and looks great corralling Catfish’s toys.ReplyCancel
