Father’s Day Gift Ideas (aka Scott’s Favorites)

Father’s Day is just over a week away! Today, Scott is sharing a few of his favorite items that would all make gifts for dads, grandfathers, uncles or any other father-figure!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there! I’ve been a father to our human kiddo, Lucy, for a little over five years and I’ve found that being a dad is pretty much the coolest.

I like to think that I take my job seriously, but with a healthy dose of fatherly shenanigans. Dad jokes, a bit of rough-housing and gently coaxing Lucy into adventures are all part of the deal.

All that to say, my girls always take great care of me during the middle of June, since my birthday falls on the 9th (I think that’s today, right?) and Father’s day is usually a week or so later. I’m usually at a loss when they ask me what I want for either of the celebrations, so we put this guide together to give some ideas for the all the dads and father figures in your lives. I’ve used and loved all of the items on the list with the exception of the power pruners, but I hope Kim takes the hint on that one! Enjoy!

Father’s Day Gift Ideas

1. Klean Kanteen, $30

I picked up a similar version of this travel mug at a sidewalk sale a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, it gives my trusty favorite YETI rambler a run for the money. It fits perfectly into the water bottle cage on my bike or even in my new favorite sling bag below!

2. Carhartt Waist Pack, $30

This waist/hip/shoulder bag is the perfect size for all day adventures. It’s big enough for a bottle of water (or coffee) and a bike lock, with a few clever pockets and pouches to keep things organized. A friend of ours even uses her as an abbreviated diaper bag!

3. Moon Dew Eye Cream, $46

I’m 42 now and I’ve accepted the fact that skin care is going to have to be a part of my life if I don’t want to look my age. This miracle cream keeps my dark under eye circles largely at bay and just a little bit goes a long, long way.

4. The World’s Best National Parks Book, $28

Kim and I are slowly adding to our list of the National Parks we’ve visited, but we still have a way to go. Now that Lucy is older, we’re hoping to start building up her list as well! Maybe it’s time to start planning another Route 66 trip? This book will surely help us plan!

5. Dad Timeline Card, $5

We love a cheeky greeting card around here and People I’ve Loved is always a go-to source for us! Perfect if you just can’t be there in person.

6. Craft Cocktail Bitters, $24

We received some sample Hella Bitters bottles in a gift box many years ago and we’ve been fans ever since! My personal favorite is citrus, but the sample pack is a great idea if you haven’t found your favorite yet. They elevate any cocktail or NA mixed beverage with depth and complexity.

7. Stainless Steel Grill Basket, $26

In my 42 years on this planet, I’ve learned my strengths when it comes to cooking – I know my way around a grill and I make a mean pot of chili – and it kind of ends there. This basket allows for easy flipping when grilling small items like shrimp and veggies. I’ve even used mine for burgers and hot dogs over a campfire!

8. The ReNew Swim Short, $75

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect solid color swimsuit for years. I finally found it in these beauties from Everlane. They’re the perfect length, the liner is comfortable and the color options are simple and classic. I have 3 different pairs and after a couple years of use in pools, salt and fresh water they still look new!

9. Laser Distance Measure, $40

If this tool isn’t in your DIY toolbox, father’s day is the perfect excuse to remedy the situation. We’d argue that this is as mandatory as owning a tape measure. Just buy it already!

10. Vortex Rear-Trigger Nozzle, $24

I thought this hose sprayer was kind of gimmicky until I tried it! Perfect for spraying off the sidewalk or patio furniture before the big Father’s Day cookout. It has all the right settings and seems to be built to last.

11. Home Automation Hub, $170

Perfect for the techy dads among us! We’ve been devoted fans of the Wink Hub 2 for years, but the recent chronic outages forced us to finally make a switch. We did the research and landed on Hubitat as the best option for our needs and current connected product lineup. We’re confident that it’ll be a great solution and we’ll definitely report back soon!

12. Powered Pruning Shears, $120

Every once in awhile, theres a branch that needs trimming that falls into the weird middle ground between hand pruners and a chainsaw. These powered garden shears seem like the perfect option for clean cuts on those middle-of-the road branches. I hope to give them a try in the near future!

13. Ultra Stretch DRY-EX Tapered Pants, $40

Much like my search for the perfect swim trunks, I’ve been on a long hunt for the perfect pair of casual pants. These are nicer looking than jeans, and as comfortable as joggers. As I tend to do, I purchased them in multiple colors right away. Capsule wardrobes forever!

14. Multipurpose GearTrack Pack, $47

We have an entire GearWall in our garage and we love the versatility of all of the accessories. We also utilize the abbreviated GearTrack version in our workshop and in the common utility/storage room at the Two Flat. These can be customized to store just about anything and are adjustable without tools as your needs change.

15. Electric Pressure Washer, $130

What dad doesn’t love the aggressive cleaning that pressure washers are capable of? This little guy is about the size of a shoe box, but it’s super quiet and powerful enough for most outdoor cleaning tasks. For those really tough jobs, a step up to a gas-powered unit might make sense, but for quick tasks, this little guy takes the prize.

Happy birthday, Scott! I love how you get a whole month of celebration, just like how Kim gets the month of May for her celebrations. I hope you get those pruners and lots of kisses and hugs from your girls!ReplyCancel
