It seems as though, in the last week, we’ve started every single post with a thank you! for taking our very first (and you know by now, very official) reader survey. You guys rock. You’re the bees knees! The cat’s pajamas! Your thoughts on what works, what could be better and why you keep coming back (those responses were too much – really, the bees knees, we tell you!) were not only a blast to dig through, but they were helpful, too.
Our favorite part? Learning about you. It was oddly fun and satisfying snooping on the other side of our laptop screen, and of the survey respondents, here’s what we learned, numbers-wise:
We also asked, hey, who’re you living with? In addition to your spouses, partners and fiancés (congrats!), here are your other honorable roomie mentions:
My shark in a bottle
A massive collection of (so far) unused project supplies
My Pyrex collection!
My roommate and her dumb boyfriend – who doesn’t pay anything, but stays here every night.
(Regarding that last one, we’ve all been there, right?)
And while we’ve worked internationally on Pet Shop orders, it was pretty exciting to see readers from around the globe – from our hometown of Chicago and across the United States, to France, Portugal, Australia and even South America – to name a few! (If you’re viewing this in a Reader, you may need to click over to see the interactive map!)
But! Hands down, reading your own words really made us smile (like that goofy, omg can we be friends? kind of smile). You all are just as silly, funny and adventurous as we’d hoped; your responses warrant a bound book for our anytime-reading-pleasure (really). We asked, what makes you, YOU?
What makes me, ME is that I try to chase my happiness in everything I do.
I am an Architect in Puerto Rico, in my 30’s and have been married to my best friend since 1995. I used to be a black dressed, stainless steel minimalism lover until I had my baby girl (who is now 6) and we decided to buy and remodel an apartment and create the “place” where she would live. Then the world turned into a rainbow and I fell in love with the rest of the stuff in it.
i have an extra bone in only one of my feet. doctors think I’m a freak.
I tend to make plans and not always carry them through! Eek! I’m especially horrible with DIY and art projects. I have lots of “ingredients” to finish projects, I just don’t always find the time to finish them! Does this make me a hoarder?
My dazzling personality and sparkling charm. Oh, and I’m punny too.
I’m still searching…
I came to live in this country 4 years ago and I had certain ideas about decoration, so it has been very interesting to me to see other types of decor – [aka] not everything matchy-matchy. I have explored new ways of doing things, but I am going back to how I was – and feeling great making that combination.
I just crave for pillows & blankets and could spend hours doing nothing just enjoying a sunbeam from an armchair or a bed… I guess I’ve turned into a cat!
I’m over excitable, like a puppy.
I’m nice, but not friendly. Never perky, but not in a bad mood. […] My husband thinks I’m funny but i usually don’t. […] I’m a little nicer than this bio makes me sound. I love Jesus, but I have a potty mouth.
I’m a Cancer who likes to run and likes Belgian wit beers best. I also like good grammar. This sounds like a dating profile. Awkward. I should probably go now…
One time I ate dog ice cream. It was awful.
I’m me because I’m fabulous!
Thank you again – one thousand times over – for taking a few moments to let us know who you are. Now, when we sit down to write about x,y and z, we can think, this one’s for you, inquiring mind from Wichita!
