The Week’s End

I scavenged the Unison warehouse sale with a pal; later on, Scott and I scoured record bargains. We stumbled upon a ridiculous resale shop, and surprisingly, we left empty handed. Through the things miracles are made of – and after rummaging through various said sales – our home gained only three records (including holiday jingles by the Supremes; word) and just one pillow (thank you, Unison). Henry sort of loves it.

And after driving past the prettiest trash mountain (we’ve ever seen!) for the last 5 years, we finally pulled over and took it in. Really. Then we drove over the Chicago river and paused to see it from up high.

Scott celebrated a groom-to-be, and I happily took an evening to myself and no one else (unless you count Haagen-Dazs). We walked our pup with his best puppy pals, painted and painted and painted some more, and ended our two days with neighbors and a spaghetti feast.

It was too short. What did you do?

We built a mantle for our fireplace and then I graded waaaaay too many poorly written papers from my Public Speaking students. Sigh. Your weekend sounds much more fun!ReplyCancel

This is beautiful. Your words are just right, and the photos make me want to cry, with their beauty. That one with the road and the bike lane in particular makes me really nostalgic for those crisp mornings at the end of fall when you first realize you can see your breath as you leave the house and the warm mug of coffee in your hand provides a deep sense of comfort.
You’re going to have to give me some photo processing tips someday. I generally lean true-to-life for the blog, but am always experimenting with other processing styles for other applications in my regular photo life . . .ReplyCancel

I like the warmth in some of these photos too, it’s nice.

This weekend I finally got a food processor so I proceeded to puree all my meals just because I could, ha (made pumpkin smoothies, pesto sauces and soup.) Then I went to a play that was great, and surprised us by including brief male nudity (the first time I’ve really experienced that in theater… especially being only about 15 feet away from the actor!) Then I went to my neighbor’s party which was too loud and full of alcohol but no food, and decided I need to throw a dinner party soon and show them how it’s done : )ReplyCancel

I love this update. It’s a gem. I worked on photographs, kissed my “little pickle” dog to death and ate my weight in frosting out of a can. :) Show the new paintings yes?ReplyCancel

Jen, I plan on sharing some paintings next week as well as a holiday ordering announcement! Eating your weight in frosting – now that sounds like a great time to me!ReplyCancel
