The Bedroom Blahs Resolved: Part 1

In addition to the blinds we installed a few months ago, we’ve added some not-too-thick, not-too-thin white curtain panels. Picked up from Ikea just last week, these Lenda curtains (at a steal at just 14.99 for two bright, white panels) have given our room that easy breezy, light and airy feeling that we all know and love. By simply cutting off the tab tops, we were able to achieve the look we wanted.

And check out these sweet, delicate clips. After all, isn’t in the details? On a whim, I purchased the West Elm curtain rod and clips several months ago during a clearance sale, even though we didn’t really need them at the time. While the hubs was hesitant (always the practical one), the deal was too good to pass up, and even he could at least admit they’d make a great addition somewhere down the road. Case in point.

I know, I know. White. And wasn’t I just moaning and groaning over the sort-of-boring-green? While the name on the paint can, Behr’s Relaxing Green, suggests otherwise, I initially felt that “relaxing” actually equated to “boring.” But since I’m such a tease, I can assure you that there’s color for this room in the very near future. (You may even notice a clue on the bed. More on that later, of course.)

Wondering how this saga began? Check it out here. You’d think I was purposely trying to create work for us. (And so what if I am?).

I actually think the color brings out some great decorative items you have in the room. But the orange was rad! Great choices on curtains and rod!ReplyCancel

Thanks, Danielle! I do agree – the orange was rad. Maybe we can try it again for a funky piece of furniture down the road? Ideas are already brewing…ReplyCancel

Ooh, perhaps you’re bringing in that great mustardy yellow… I am in love with all things yellow at the moment. We have those same curtains in our living room, but I love the look with the tabs lopped off and the simple clips!ReplyCancel

I really love your new color. I just reread your post about the night you decided to change your paint color. It totally sounds like something I would do. I get all of my best ideas when my boyfriend is out of town..and he always comes home and likes it (or says he does anyways). my bedroom is Behr Celtic Gray, which is actually a soft aqua blue color. I love how serene it is, and I just added some color subtle color with little things in the room. I actually still think about copying your stripe behind the headboard look all the time, but can’t commit to it because I keep thinking ‘what if i want to slide teh bed down a little more…then the stipe will be off centered!’ hahaReplyCancel

      Chrystie,

We thought about our bed being off centered, too! Before we committed to the stripe, Scott and I made sure we were absolutely satisfied with the bed placement. We viewed it from every angle in the room (or the angles that a body can fit into – the room is only 8′ x 12′ after all!). But once we decided to go for it, there was no looking back! Perhaps you could try a stripe with Celtic Gray but use a slightly different sheen? For example, if you’re using flat now, maybe go for the stripe in eggshell. That way if you go off center, it won’t be quite as noticeable!ReplyCancel

I really like it. Those clips are too cute too. It’s been awhile since I took a look at West Elm’s clearance stuff … I might have to remedy that!ReplyCancel
