Swap Cup

Perhaps a little different (and a lot more mild) than the good ‘ol college day, a-hem, game, our rendition involves no, um, liquids, and can be done in 30 seconds. Here’s what I mean. Scott and I have had this mug holding our pens and pencils in the office for the better part of 7 years. Yeah. So if you do the math, this mug has traveled with us from Cincinnati and all the way to the Windy City (and at least three different homes).

It didn’t help that half of our pens were sans ink, and the only pencil didn’t have a point. And since we were kind of sort of upgrading our office after the ungodly flood-that-shall-remain-nameless, we figured it was the little things that counted too. A little swap does good. Enter the on-hand-glass-vase-for-free.

I fished out all the useless ball points and kept only our favorite felt tip on hand, along with a stash of vibrant markers. Turns out we didn’t need (um, couldn’t use) most of the original items, and instead, we have an easy peasy (and classy, no?) pen cup.

We didn’t chuck the scissors or other non-writing tools from the mug, but more to come on that. And, of course, a dime tour of our now fully reclaimed office space. A few changes here and there make all the difference, after all.

PS… For those of you in the Chicago area, be sure to pick up a copy of the RedEye this Friday! We heard through the grapevine that a familiar face (or two) may make an appearance. And for those of you outside these city walls, of course we’ll be sharing the details.

I love the way that vase looks holding Sharpies :) I think it’s probably because I’m an office supply geek. I might have to do this with a vase I picked up from HomeGoods recently.ReplyCancel
