One, Two.

This past weekend was a weird one. An exciting one, no doubt (new adventures!), but we’ll fully admit to losing all track of time, wondering, wait, did we already have brunch today? Or was that yesterday? We watched our beloved Penguins get swept right out of the Playoffs (be kind; our egos haven’t yet recovered), toasted our Closing Day with patio drinks at Parsons (go there! Go now!), showed our home to potential renters (cleaning, dusting and Swiff-ing before each one), celebrated the birthday boy, and somehow, came home with two new pieces of furniture. And if we’re being honest, with the closing behind us, we shouldn’t be so surprised.

ONE. After Scott spotted the dresser in a nearby alley, we slept on it before scooping it. Because, remember, we aren’t supposed to bring any new items in that we’ll have to move? But it was still there 2 days later, and a quick social media poll told us to stop being silly! We picked it up, and for now, it’s living in the back of the wagon. (Where else will it go?)

TWO. As if one new item wasn’t enough (although yes, it was free!), we treated ourselves to an afternoon at Humboldt House – a new vintage shop that we want to move into. Every price point is hit throughout the store, and you guys! They have a shop Pittie! The seemingly innocent trip turned dangerous when I spotted that velvet chair – and after pleading my case for a solid 30 minutes to Scott, we picked that up, too. I have big plans for that one; big plans.

New house, get here! We have things to put in you!

You did a good deed with the dresser, and it is going to look great. I like that the handles are at an angle, very unique. I too have a hard time passing up furniture, especially if I know it might end up in a landfill. My house is full, and just yesterday my husband asked in horror, “What are you doing on Craigslist again?!”ReplyCancel

Jessica, we think it’s a good deed, too ;) We’re a little unsure of the angled handles… so we’ll see what happens to that!ReplyCancel

  • Fun! I love that the dresser is living in the car. Ha!

I can’t wait to see how both of these get tweaked. The velvet chair already looks like you, so I’m very intrigued by your plans.

I totally feel your pain. As soon as we closed on the firehouse, we had to remind ourselves not to buy more things to move. Since we’re (somewhat) settled more purchases are creeping in, but we’re trying to keep it to a minimum since we’re approaching one space at a time. That didn’t keep us buying a vintage fireplace a few weeks ago. Yes… a fireplace. Lol! Tell Scott he can be thankful he’s not moving a fireplace around ;)ReplyCancel

Great finds! I can’t wait to see what you do to the dresser and I adore the chair!ReplyCancel

  • Excellent finds! They both have such great shapes!ReplyCancel

Heather, no kidding! If Scott didn’t love that dresser, there’s no way it’d be living in our car for a month. And you’re right – that velvet chair had my name all over it! It was fate.

    Thanks, guys!ReplyCancel
