Oh, Sweet Friday

The one good thing about the absurd amount of rain that Chicago’s seen this summer is that our garden – well, our garden is growing.

Add one part steamy, hot days to equal parts muggy, thick air, and we’d say you’ve got one hell of a flower party. (All the better to dine in!) And if you’re not totally tired of all our patio talk just yet (or if you’ve just started tuning in – if so, hiya!), we hope you’ll check out our complete play-by-play over at Our Humble A{Bowe}d, where we’re guest blogging today while Amanda takes some time to relax (we hope).

And Mrs. Brooklyn Limestone is featuring our do-it-your-own-bleeping-self tablecloth. Hells bells, it’s a two-fer patio party up in here! Many thank yous to the lovely ladies behind each virtual casa for having us – and for showing off our sweet Libby.

Also, thank you, rain gods. Thank you for the rain and icky, humid air. You’ve pushed our garden to grow, although, we’d like to think our watering persistence and flowery tunes have helped out, too. But! We could’ve done without last night’s insane tree-ripping, flower-stealing storm. That was pretty mean of you. (We’ve got quite a bit of repair work to tend to, as these photos were snapped yesterday afternoon! That did not make for a happy morning today.)

In any case, a sweet Friday is in order, and a very happy holiday weekend to you all! May you grill, eat too much, and wake up with hangovers – for good reason, of course (those pesky mementos of a great night). Any plans you’re willing to divulge?

I love all of your flowers! That rain is definitely helping around your place. We haven’t gotten as much in VA but the flowers are still coming (with a little watering help from us). Have a safe & happy fourth of july weekend!ReplyCancel

Thank you, ladies! Have wonderful weekends, too!

Unfortunately, it seems as though last night’s crazy rain messed up our garden more than I thought. We might be spending a part of our weekend re-planting and saving, rather than lounging and enjoying! Oy. Regardless, we’ll be sure to get it back in tip top shape!ReplyCancel

Your garden is beautiful! Hope the hail didn’t too much damage…ReplyCancel

  • I’m jealous. It’s been triple digits here and my amazing pink geraniums finally gave up :( It’s succulents and roses and not much else here for awhile.

    Happy 4th!!!ReplyCancel

Your flowers do look so nice, but we were thinking the same thing last night as the hail was destroying all the flowers on our just bloomed hibiscus tree.ReplyCancel

Two Pitties – thank you. We actually were in the ‘burbs last night, so we missed the storm, and just came back to see the after math. I guess the good thing is that our car didn’t get hurt, but all the cars on our street have big dings. Ouch.ReplyCancel
