Nailed It (+ Something For You Too)

7 months ago, we threw our first sledgehammer through the wall. Less than 1 month after that, we packed our boxes, moved in, and really began the demolition – ripping up carpet, raising ceilings, pulling down studs and cursing the lathe behind every sheet of drywall. We (im)patiently worked around our contractors (for almost 4 months!), loving and loathing it all at once. For the last 3 months, we’ve made a table (or two), painted rooms, primed staircases and picked trim.

And now – now! – 6 months after moving into this house, we’ve ceremoniously put the first nail in the wall for our first piece of hung artwork!

This photo was taken while we were in Tulum, Mexico last fall, and it felt right for this room. The bright sky, vibrant clothing and very, very green brush inject the right amount of color into our nook, laying the ground work for the rest of the room’s decor. (Which, honestly, will be decked with our vinyl collection, the turntable and, most importantly, a chair that just hugs you. This one’s a placeholder.)

The print is large – 30″x40″ large, actually – and we used the same fine art printing process as the rest of our giclées in the Shop, lending the most saturated colors possible. No longer in need of our 2013 calendar (and having since converted to a coveted planner on my studio desk), we swapped it for this print in our massive DIY frame for our teeny, tiny room.

We added the giclée to The Print Shop (see Mexico #3), and for the love of all that is Valentine’s Day, we’re also offering $14 off (yes, dollars!) everything in said Shop through – ahem – February 14th when you use the code NAILEDIT14. xo.

Ah – yay for you guys! Seven months and you’re hanging artwork!! I’m SUPER jealous. We’re at eight months and artwork is still a few months out. It’s amazing how much I miss it. Also – I love the frame! You said it was DIY, do you have the how-to on your site?
    Keep up the great work!

It looks beautiful in there! I always love how clean the walls look when freshly painted with nothing on them but then I love the homey feeling of having something meaningful on the wall! I want it all.ReplyCancel
