Colors, Hockey and Makeovers

First, thank you for all the input yesterday! Funny, I was leaning towards the yellow, but you brought up so many great points against it. And after a few of you said matchy matchy, well, you practically scared us right out of that direction. (I’ve been known to change an outfit multiple times until no two pieces actually match; I shudder at the thought.)

Scott ultimately leaned blue, so you’ve confirmed his gut – and now I’ll most likely never hear the end of it. (I kid!) And if we follow through on your suggestions, we’ll have a console that reminds us of our inspiration photo:

Changing gears – as if last Friday’s post didn’t indicate that I’m a bit scatter brained lately – we’re now the proud owners of a newly upholstered Grandma chair! Kudos to all of you who set us straight and kindly coaxed us towards the professionals. We used Covers Unlimited (located in Chinatown), and we couldn’t be more thrilled with their service and open communication – a big plus for a chatter box like myself.

Now that it’s back home, we still have a few finishing touches (refinishing the legs is number one on the list), and then she’ll live happily ever after in the studio. At that point, we’ll share more than just a fabric glimpse – but how ’bout that contrast piping? Yowza.

This week in general has been a little nutso (in a good way), mostly due to the perfect storm of a few (random) happenings:

1) The hockey playoffs started Wednesday! Growing up in a hockey family (and having played the sport for most of my teenage years), this is our favorite time of year – and our nerves are already shot just thinking about tonight’s game. Go Pens!

2) We’re getting our little tails in high gear, and the Pet Shop is getting a makeover – Eee! We want to thank you (so much!) for getting us to this point – that is, the point of outgrowing our PayPal buttons. We’ve outgrown them! Because of you! It’s long overdue, and it’s going to be great – we think – assuming we can get our ducks in a row. It’s still in the beginning stages, and we’re doing this one step at a time. (As Scott likes to remind me, how do you eat a whale? One bite at a time.) We’re reaching back to our resolution for this one.

And 3), hot dog!, we’ve been accepted to the Small Cool fiesta over at Apartment Therapy. Both Jack and Maddie managed to photo bomb our photos, which is okay by us (we love those little, wet nosed dudes). Won’t you please vote for us? We’re playing it cool, but if only you could see our (read: my) pathetic, pleading eyes. Just click on the photo below to vote.

It’s awfully therapeutic to dump my brain, so thank you for hanging on. Actually, thank you all around – for the Shop support, your enthusiastic color input, your votes and your good hockey vibes (see what I did for those last two?). And happy, happy weekend to you! xo.

PPS: Black and yellow, black and yellow.

Funny – I thought the blue was too matchy with the rug. :) I can’t wait to see the chair in the office space – that color + piping is gorgeous.ReplyCancel

The easiest way to get over those hockey nerves is to become a Caps fan. You sort of get used to them choking every year, and get better at not getting your hopes up.ReplyCancel

Heather and Jill, good point, however, I think the blue is so much darker that it won’t necessarily match, but just “go.” The gold would be the same color as the print and art on the opposing wall and living room! Hmm, we’re still considering the options.

    Jimmy, I could never! :)ReplyCancel
