This giveaway is no longer accepting entries. Thank you to everyone who participated!
We’ve yet to get started on that console makeover (blue or yellow? blue? no, yellow?), although with any luck, we’ll solidify the color choice this weekend. We’ve been embracing our cherry wood for now (as we have for years!), but the real star on that entry wall is our most recent art purchase, Just Keep Going, by Jess LC.
A jewelry and accessories designer by trade, Jess is constantly expanding and evolving, and most recently, she created the Wells collection in collaboration with Ampersand Design Studio. With Jess’ mission to help people design a life with intention, the Wells collection interprets those intentions through inspiring, frame friendly 16″x20″ art prints. (Learn more about the collection’s story right here.) Alongside Just Keep Going is Be Brave, Be Present and Dream Bigger, from left to right:
But let’s talk about what’s in it for you. We’ve teamed up with Jess to treat one lucky reader to their own grey and gold Just Keep Going print, our personal favorite with an encouraging message. We’re so lucky to call Jess a friend, and as she’s reminded us (both personally and through her written words), when you get knocked down, get back up. Dust yourself off, and just keep going.
- Up for grabs: One lucky winner will receive a 16″x20″ Just Keep Going print from the Jess LC Wells collection.
- To enter: Simply comment on this post and let us know, what’s your motto? You know, your daily mantra – those words you (strive to) live by? Maybe you firmly believe that when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. Or maybe, you simply believe in the power of clean skivvies (like mom always said).
- For additional entries: Share this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter, then come back and leave a comment letting us know. (One additional comment for each method – up to 2 extra entries!)
- Giveaway ends: Tuesday, May 8th, 6pm EST
- Shipping restrictions: Anywhere in the world
The lucky dog winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Wednesday, May 9th. Good luck and happy entering!

My motto would be ‘Just Breathe’ which is perfect since I bought one of Jess’ necklaces last year that says just that. :)
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
My motto is “Everything happens for a reason” It is one of the things that I truely truely believe.
Similar to Just Keep Going, mine is “Just Keep Swimming” sung of course by Ellen DeGeneres as Dory in my head. :)
Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.
My mum always says, and I like to remember this – you can have everything you want, just not always all at the same time
After moving so far away from my family this past year and feeling a little lost because of it I found this statement to think about and reread often:
Your journey has molded you for the greater good,
it was exactly what it needed to be.
Don’t think that you’ve lost time.
It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now.
And now is the right time.
Long but good. :)
My motto? It’ll be okay. That and I focus my energy into cleaning and (re)decorating. It helps me focus my mind elsewhere.
My motto is “Remember who you are.” Growing up, my mom would always shout this out to my sister and me as we were leaving the house.
“Everything happens for a reason” … I use.
And if someone is having a panic and they need to calm down I tell them to “just breath — take a deep breath”
this may be more of a quote than a motto but I still love it “Dreams are Horses meant to carry you home”. :)
“man plans, god laughs”…I’ve learned you can plan all you want but sometimes god has a different plan for us. it takes some of the pressure off life;)
I LOVE that print!!
I truly believe that life is better if you give yourself something to look forward to–even if it’s small.

Well, because I really need it right now:
«Inspiration comes of working».
I think inspiration is great in everypart of my life!
My current favorite is a bit long: Admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
Love that print. :)
I love her stuff! I didn’t realize she did artwork too. I’ve forever fathomed her chevron collection of jewelry. I never got any before it sold out forever though :(
My motto is: “Explore. Dream. Discover.” part of the infamous Mark Twain quote. It’s made an amazing impact on my life :)
As a huge Disney fan, my motto is similar but taken from Finding Nemo, “Just keep swimming!”
Oscar Wilde said: Life is too important to take seriously.
My motto “Keep it simple”.
I love the ING commercials “If you don’t want to pay chequing fees, don’t pay chequing fees”
I think that’s my motto. If you want something, go for it.
A rising tide lifts all boats
Thsnks for the giveaway! My personal motto would have to be “perfectionism is a disease and a form of weakness.” helps me embrace the fact that most things are beyond my control.
My motto is “always wear your heart on your sleeve” – reminds me to be honest! Thanks!!!
I love your art print giveaways! My motto, since discovering it on your blog is “work hard and be nice to people” along with Ghandi’s “be the change you want to see in the world.” I think “just keep going” would be a nice addition to that!
I tweeted it too!
I wish I was cool enough to have a motto. How about “stick it out”? That’s the best I can come up with this Friday morning. :o)
Love the print! My motto would have to be “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” -Dr. Seuss … or “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” -Steve Jobs. THANKS!!
I love quotes, mottos, phrases, etc. it’s hard to choose a favorite!
“If you have a chance to be kind and helpful, take it.”
I always have a better day if I follow that advice.
i find following a simple “be kind” motto is a never-fail way to be a good person, and to maybe help those around you want to be good, too.
Back in high school and still to this day, I live by “Never be conceited, just always think highly of yourself.”
As for my kids, we try to instill “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
I also tweeted about it!!! :)
Mine would be “Pas a pas, se va luènh”, which is Occitan, and is very similar to the print you’re giving away actually (literally translated – “Step by step, will go far”). It was in a book I read once, and I liked it :)
My personal motto is to take life “one day at a time”. It’s so easy to get caught up in all daily stress and forgot what’s important.
My personal favorite is, This too shall pass. It’s gotten me through many struggles.
I have a tendency to write “inspirational” post its and stick them on my monitor at work.
So right now, it’s “Do fucking better.” and also “The day will be awesome if you want it to be awesome.”
Both are working wonders. :)
I try to follow ‘Live, laugh, love’ especially when my boys are on my nerves! Which is a lot recently. Thanks for this fantastic giveaway!
Just shared on Facebook! Have a great weekend!!!!
Be nice. Very simple! :)
What a great giveaway! I would have to say “Breathe” is a big one for me. I tend to get so caught up in everything that I forget to just stand still for a moment and take it all in.
My motto is “everything happens for a reason.” Thanks for the cool giveaway!
i would love this poster! my motto is generally “no worries,” or “it is what is..” both very helpful in having things roll off my back =)
My motto: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle -Plato
Happiness is a journey….
If you can’t see that you might be wrong, you miss out on being right.
“Walk the goddess walk”
“always do your best. respect your teammates. have fun.”
(I’ve been in survival mode in a graduate program for the last 4 years. I’ve often needed this reminder! However, I’m happy to say that commencement is tomorrow!)
My current motto is “Don’t sweat the petty.” With a service desk job in retail, juggling family time and school work, it’s not hard to get discouraged. I have learned that sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles and really focus on what’s more important in life.
My motto is – Today will be the best day ever. My mom always told me that as a kid and I always tell my husband that now. Make your day the best no matter what your doing.
My motto is “Everything happens for a reason.” My mom always said this to me growing up, and continues to remind me through the difficult times.
I shared on Facebook too! Thanks!
because I tend to feel like a screw up my motto is “try, try again”. It helps me to remember that things don’t always go “right” the first time and you have to keep at it.
a girl looks the same in the dark. by mom
I always live by “You can do anything but you can’t do everything.” I always have a million things to do and periodically need to stop myself and prioritize. What’s most important?
“Take it easy, but take it.” – Studs Terkel.
“Never, never, never give up”. Winston Churchill Thanks! :)
“Get excited and make things”
I have a framed poster of that next to my sewing machine, every time I see it it motivates me :)
My motto lately is: “God will provide”.
Great giveaway, thank you!
i keep a photo of lemons as the main image on my iphone and desktop. i guess this makes me a big believer in the old saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
Oh yay, I’m so excited about this give away! I just stumbled on your blog about a month ago and I love everything about your place! This print is my FAVORITE, so I’m so happy about this entry!
My motto came from a lecture I listened to online. It was about prioritizing, and making the best use of your time. My favorite quote was “If you have to eat a frog, don’t spend a lot of time looking at it. If you have to eat three of ’em, don’t start with the small one.” Meaning, don’t over-think or put off doing big/annoying/UN-appetizing things to do- just get it over with and you’ll feel much better for it afterwards! It’s a little sillier than ‘just rip the band-aid off’, that’s why I love it :)
I guess I have a couple mottos. I like “everything happens for a reason”, “work hard & be nice to people”, and maybe my personal fave: “Raised in the church of ‘be nice to people and don’t talk with your mouth full'” (yes, it’s a line from Sex & the City).
Mine is, “It’s good to do uncomfortable things — it’s weigh training for life.” It reminds me that taking chances is worthwhile, if a bit scary sometimes.
My motto is “Keep it simple”
I have a few, depending on the day.
Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. -Eleanor Roosevelt
I would say my motto is “love is my religion”. It reminds me that regardless of how I feel acting with love is the most important think I can do in any situation.
My motto is- “Everything Happens for a Reason”
My Motto “nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion” G.W.F. Hegel
“Kiskapu” is my motto. In Hungarian it means, “Little Gate”. When the big door closes, look for the “Little Gate”. There is always a way in or out!
My mantra for 2012 has been “be brave!”
The thing I’ve been telling myself to get me through the last few years is “If you never try, you’ve already failed”. My fear of failure has stopped me from doing so much, and this helps to remind me that I will never succeed if I never try.
My motto is
“follow the ‘golden rule'” – treat others the way you want to be treated.
My motto: Every day is a new day, with no mistakes – Anne of Green Gables
My motto is “I can do hard things.” It seems to me the hard things in life are usually the most rewarding in terms of growth and life experience!
Not really a motto, but every morning I have to listen to Jack’s Mannequin’s “I’m Ready” to prepare for me the day. It just makes me feel, well, ready, for everything that comes my way.
“If you want to be happy, JUST DO IT!”
I always say it’s a lot easier to be happy.
hmmm…i’m not sure i have a motto. what i say the most is, “walk on the green line with a bubble in your mouth and your hands in a hookup” or…”if your friends told you to jump off of a bridge, would you do it?”
2nd grade doesn’t necessarily allow for a personal mantra, but for countdowns to summer! :)
also, shared ya on facebook! :)
I guess my motto is “Relax. Release”. Which is sort of along the same lines as “just breathe”.
My motto is taken from the best band of the 90s, Bush :) “Drink life as it comes, straight … no chaser.” I love that mantra because its all about soaking everything up without avoidance or a buffer. What a rawr statement!
btw. I have a giveaway going on at my blog too! Check out details at http://www.sunnysideshlee.com! Have a great weekend :)
My motto: Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
act justly, love mercy, walk humbly.
if my actions flow out of that, i’m doing okay.
I always loved the saying “The longer you wait for the future the shorter it will be”
My personal mantra is “Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.” I think Dory from Finding Nemo was dead on with that. That’s why I would so love to win this…how fitting?
Thanks for the giveaway.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. – Eleanor Roosevelt
Make today worth remembering!
i don’t think i’d be where i am today without the phrase “everything happens for a reason” … i keep getting slapped in the face with crappy situations and loss but somehow that keeps me believing that one of these days this will all make sense.
i suppose mine would be straight from ferris bueller “life moves pretty fast, if you dont take a look around once in a while, you might miss it.”
im glad you guys are doing this giveaway, i’ve been obsessed with this print since you posted it!
Love the print! Definitely something I need to be reminded of, often, lately.
I have a few mottos I try to be by:
“My goal in life is to be as good a person my dogs think I am”
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do, are in harmony”
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
“There is no worst failure than not trying”
Shared on Facebook!
and twitted to my 4 followers = )
hmmm… personal motto – gotta be “hold fast,” to the point that i would get knuckle tattoos with that phrase if i didn’t have to work for a living. retirement present i guess.
My motto is “I can do hard things.” My mom used to say it. Thanks!
I like to remember to ‘enjoy every minute’.
“When in doubt, turn right”
Before deciding to go back to school for a second degree (in a subject waaayyy far removed from what I ever imagined I’d do), I saw this quote:
“It’s never too late to become what you might have been.” -attributed to George Eliot
It gave me the courage to go for my dreams, and I’ve lived by it ever since. We can always change, do better, try something new and seemingly impossible.
Also, this one by Pink, “So what, I’m still a rockstar,” for when I might have screwed up a little bit. :)
Keep on keepin’ on!
JUST found your site & love to read these comments!
My mantra has to be “I may not understand know, but things work out just the way they are supposed to be.”
One of my other favorites (for times that require the above) is “Welcome to the hallway.” The hallway is the void between the door that closes & the window that opens; it can be dark!
Something that I always live by is this:
Pray about everything, big and small. I have been amazed through my life how true this is. God cares about even the smallest things in our lives. Thanks for this great giveaway!
I’ve been struggling with a lot of professional and emotional paralysis this year and I just discovered my mantra this weekend – one I believe God is giving me Himself: “Come Awake.”
Everything will be okay in the end. If it isn’t okay, it isn’t the end. :)
My current mantra is “You have responsibilities!”. Love these prints!
“The horses don’t care that it is Christmas”
Seems weird, but it was a daily saying in my house growing up. It was my Dad’s way of reminding me that there are people (or animals!) depending on you every day and it is your job to fulfill your commitments to them. I say it to myself often because in the midst of stress, troubles, or celebrations, it reminds me of the bigger picture.
‘Be Content’ – I try to remind myself of this everyday. I have a wonderful life and I need to not forget it!
Ha, that pretty much IS my motto lately, since I’ve been suffering a lot of disappointments this year – basically, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. That’s all I can be sure of right now, that time will pass, things eventually have to improve, right?
My motto would be is “All you need is love”
every morning before i get out of bed i say “today is awesome.” i started saying that when i was dealing with some major anxiety, and i’ve kept it up ever since.
my other mantra is “make it happen”
My personal reminder is that “It’s not suppossed to be easy.” Sometimes when things get tough, I want to just quit until I remind myself that it’s not all suppossed to be easy. Being challenged and uncomfortable is a great growing experience!
Love the print! I don’t really have a “saying” per se. However, when growing up our family saying was “Do unto others, as you would have them do to you.” Which really makes you think before you act or say something.
What an awesome poster! Something I like to keep in my mind is “treat people the way you want to be treated” I remember my mom telling me this as a kid and I think our world would be a much better place if people were just kind to each other.
Lately my mottos have been:
“If you’re not failing every once and a while, you’re not trying anything new.”
“be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” –plato
love the print!
I tend to worry a lot, so I don’t really have a motto so much as an image. When I get really freaked out about something I think “ocean waves” – the sound it brings up is soothing and I try to breathe in time with the waves breaking.
I pinned the artist right after reading this post, so am so glad to see it as a giveaway!!
My life’s mantra is – and has been, for quite some time – “Be compassionate, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.” It reminds me that people aren’t jerks just to be jerks, but that everyone’s life/personality/struggles are formed by their own battles.
My motto – love what you do, do what you love. I think it’s super important to absolutely LOVE what you do, not only for a living, but in life as a whole. <3
“Fortune favors the brave” – an oldie, but a goodie.
