Frog Dog

To the dog owners, lovers, and enthusiasts alike: does this make you laugh as much as it does us? While it’s fairly common for your pup to relax in such an amusing manner, could you imagine if the cats in the world follow suit? That would be a funny, happy day.

Ha– Nona does the same thing! In fact, she even slides off the couch with her legs frogged out. I had never seen a dog do that before we got Nona. I guess it’s more common than I thought!ReplyCancel

My friend’s pit bull does the same – and crawls across the floor dragging the back end that way. Love it!ReplyCancel

My dog does the same thing! When we come in from outside, the first thing she does is flop down on the cool tile and “frog out,” as we call it.

Erica, our dog slides off the couch like this too. We tell her she’s being lazy because she can’t even jump off – she has to slide down with the frog legs out. lol.ReplyCancel

My cat DOES relax like that! It’s the funniest thing. I figure either he likes the feeling of the cold floor on his stomach or he’s just really flexible and showing off.ReplyCancel

Love it! It always amazes me what they find comfortable. Our Miss M does this ‘disembodied head’ thing where she snaps her head back so far it looks really uncomfortable. Maybe the cats will pick up this position too?ReplyCancel

    • Kim5.31.11 - 11:28 AM

Suzanne – no way! That made me very happy.

Two Pitties – I love Miss M. Love both of your pups.

All, Jackie Boy will also do the frog dog while sitting on his toosh. Something about it must be so comfy!ReplyCancel

My cat does the same thing! And it’s just as cute as you think it is!ReplyCancel

  • Jen5.31.11 - 12:47 PM

I LOVE it when dogs do this. Our Lab used to do it all the live long day. Our pups now? Not so much.

    Happy Tuesday!!ReplyCancel

My puppers chillaxes the same way.

Funny thing though, is that it looks like the cat in your blog header is also trying to figure out the “puppy-frog-legs” thing….ReplyCancel

  • Cait @ Hernando House5.31.11 - 1:02 PM

Freckles does this all the time :)ReplyCancel

  • Kim5.31.11 - 2:27 PM

Kelly, the cat in the header is Libby, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was trying to imitate Jack. They have a love/hate relationship – mostly “love” when we’re not looking!ReplyCancel

Kim …. Pete lays the same way! And the first time I caught him that way I was so amused I took a picture and texted it immediately to Doug (and half my family, haha). Gosh I love critters and the many many ways in which they can make me smile!ReplyCancel

    • Kim5.31.11 - 6:14 PM

Amy, oooh I want to see Pete do the frog dog! I didn’t even think of a bunny being so silly.ReplyCancel

  • Abby5.31.11 - 6:24 PM

Yay! Our newest puppy, who is a pit bull, does this all the time! When she’s sliding off furniture, we call it the penguin slide, though. :)ReplyCancel

  • Jaimie5.31.11 - 6:29 PM

My foster dog does this too. It is especially froggy since he is an Italian Greyhound and has really long legs :)ReplyCancel

    • Kim5.31.11 - 6:34 PM

People. We need to see photos! I’d go nuts over a Greyhound’s long legs!ReplyCancel

  • Aleksandra5.31.11 - 7:30 PM

Huh, I thought only girl dogs did this! Our first foster Lollie did, but none of the others have — and they have been boys.
    I do love this move!ReplyCancel

  • michelle5.31.11 - 8:23 PM

Our dog sits like this all of the time. Yesterday he was sitting like this and then starting army crawling to steal a bone from his “cousin”. Oh doggies…ReplyCancel

  • emily @ the happy home5.31.11 - 11:38 PM

both my dogs– pit and chow– do this. we call them their turkey legs!ReplyCancel

  • Alison6.3.11 - 10:07 AM

I used to have a cat that would lay like this all the time. It always made me smile. :)ReplyCancel

  • Jaimie6.5.11 - 8:17 PM

Kim – I’d love to show you a photo but he never sits still long enough for me to grab the camera. He’s only two years old and they don’t calm down until about six.ReplyCancel
