Be Our Guest: 4 Men 1 Lady

Last (but not least) in our guest line up comes from Michelle of 4 men 1 lady. With Scott being one of three brothers, I’m often intrigued by the chaos that must have been his mom’s life – I might have asked him how his mother came out as sane and sweet as she is, you know, with three boys and the dude I call my father-in-law (love ya, Dave!). Michelle’s life is just that, a mother to three male kiddos and a husband that surely basks in her creative nature. Really, this woman is Talented (and yes, that T caps was intentional). With a recent move underway (see her former house tour right here), we can’t wait to watch the magic (ooh, ahh) unfold.

I have a love for old and vintage frames. I always look out for them at flea markets, garage sales, antique and thrift stores. Here are a few ways I’ve transformed them.

With the addition of spray paint, peg board and hooks, I turned this antique frame in to a jewelry board:

I took the mirror out of this gold frame, spray painted the frame white, added cork board and burlap to make a message board:

My stainless steel fridge isn’t magnetized so I can’t hang kids art on the it.  Instead, I sprayed these frames, hung them in the hall and now my kids have a special place to display their art:

My mother-in-law gave me this mirror. (Shhhh, don’t tell her I transformed it…she may not aprove):

I took the mirror out…

Then sprayed it with chalkboard spray paint.

Next I cut up a burlap rice sack in my pantry and turned it inside out.

I affixed it to cork board and put it back in the top portion of the frame.

Now I have a message center where I can pin notes up in the top and write messages below on the chalk board:

Thank you, Michelle!

  • The older styled frames have such great details but I am not a fan of that brass color (probably because growing up that’s what all our fixtures were). I love how all the frames were changed – especially that jewelry board!ReplyCancel

Gorgeous transformation! I love that you didn’t paint the frame of it and really looks great next to the chalk board portion of the piece! Great job!ReplyCancel
