Over 2 1/2 years after our first home tour hit Apartment Therapy, we were asked back to share again – whoot! When we were first emailed – in July! – by the super sweet Carolyn, we were in the middle of Tweakfest 2000 (er, 2012?), so we agreed to hold the second dime tour this fall. And after months of email exchanges and a visit from Carolyn a few weeks ago, this little home was crashed, and we’re just as excited now as we were the first time.
What makes this time a little more sweet, is that Carolyn was the one with the camera, snapping around our home through her eyes. (We shot the first tour ourselves.) Because we shoot this space so much, it’s fun to see these rooms through another lens, catching angles that we would’ve otherwise overlooked.
Thank you to Apartment Therapy for having us again! We love that Carolyn asked us back, because in her words, it seems to me that the place looks a lot different now. And looking back to round one – with a navy office, orange bedroom, massive fish tank and sans Jack Attack – it really is.

The tour is lovely, Scott and Kim!! I even picked up (more) things to love about your home that I hadn’t noticed before. And to see it through a different, and slightly darker lens was a new experience, too. You should feel so proud!
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and I’ve somehow managed to miss noticing those pull-out lights on either side of your bed. Those. Are. Awesome. I think they look super cool and have a nice sense of humor to them (to me at least). I love it.
Thank you, guys! It really was so fun to see our home through the lens of someone else.
Jimmy, we made those with the help of Daniel from Manhattan Nest! You can see the whole rundown here: https://yellowbrickhome.com/2011/10/26/let-there-be-light/
Winning! Congratulations! Your place (and of course its inhabitants) look great on the AT post. I love how a different lens offers such a different perspective. Well done! Hope you get a lot of Pet Shop orders from the AT website :)
Thanks, Emma! I know, she shot our home from totally different angles that I would have. It was like seeing our home for the first time all over again…
Thanks so much for letting me crash your home, guys! It was a lot of fun to invade your space, see the place first hand, and to get to hang out. I really loved shooting this tour, and hopefully you guys enjoy it as much as I did! xoxo
Thanks, everyone! Carolyn, we are so, so happy you crashed us! No joke, it really was like looking at our home for the first time again!
Congratulations, that’s awesome! So well deserved. Still reeling at the square footage, I always forget what you guys manage to work with!
Congrats!! And you’re right – It IS neat to see your home through someone else’s lens!! So pumped for you, you deserve it =)
Congratulations on the article. You never cease to amaze!
Have been following your blog for quite a while. Am I dreaming or did you used to have a large-striped hallway? Didn’t see it in AT’s tour. LOVE your place!!!
Hi Karen, thank you! We never had a striped hallway, but we did wallpaper it a few years ago: https://yellowbrickhome.com/2010/03/30/adventures-in-wallpaper-reveal/
