A Horse, Of Course.

After a whirlwind weekend of flea markets, antique stores, and resale shops aplenty, we came home only to find ourselves with a new family member. To be honest, for us to walk out of a second-hand shop empty handed would be like leaving the animal shelter without a new squishy face to love. In other words, it just doesn’t happen (enter Jack, Maddie, and Libby).

But this new addition isn’t furry. He doesn’t eat dry food, and he surely won’t sleep on your pillow all day. Rather, he fits in with Henry‘s crowd. After spotting him on the bottom shelf of an overflowing booth at Master Pieces Antiques (a Cincinnati gem owned by Scott’s aunt and uncle, Doug and Mary Pat), we knew he’d fit right in at the Vargo abode.

We tried to fight it at first. In fact, we even left him on that cramped shelf and continued our rounds at the shop, pushing all of that mustard, porcelain glory to the back of our minds. But when the hubs wanted to take another look on our way out, it sealed the deal. After discussing our options – A bookend, perhaps? Just sittin’ pretty? – we scooped him up and went home happy.

Yes, we’ll fully admit that he’s a little strange. But we’re not too worried about that. Naw, we’re more concerned about the perfect name. Any suggestions? And overall, what do you think? A little weird? Check. A little…um, yellow? Check. But kinda cool? Check.

I love him! There needs to be some type of back-story as to why there is a blanket draped over him. Was he cold?ReplyCancel

I’m liking where Danielle and Rachael are going with this! Maybe I can piece together your suggestions and give him a great, regal long name. Love it.

Hi Kim! I received the adorable portrait of Gracie today, and I wish I could post it here with my msg to you. I LOVE it! You totally captured her personality (and my bright red Aveo)….I couldn’t be happier with it, and I’m just so appreciative. You have great talent. I’m sharing it with my friends on FB and elsewhere, many of whom have beloved dogs and who I think would love to have a portrait, too. Keep sharing your painting with us…You rock! Kindly, Alisa MooreReplyCancel

      Alisa,

I’m so happy that you’re happy! Gracie was a joy to paint. I got quite the kick out of it! Feel free to pass my name along to your friends – painting pets is just really too fun. Thank you for thinking of me when it came to capturing Gracie’s sweet mug!ReplyCancel
